Ask for Gifts - Create Traffic
By Dager | October 30, 2008
It’s Christmas and mo
st Nonprofits find this to be one of their most active periods: Silent Auctions, Lunches, Christmas Events. You are calling on many vendors and getting great results on donation of items and Gift Certificates. The Holiday season is upon us.
But when you ask for a donation, make sure you tell them what they are getting for the donation. Be an active participant with them. As you meet with these vendors, take time out to learn more about their business. Maybe, asking them to write up a card on how best to refer them. Printing a list of sponsors in your newsletter or even placing them on your website with links back to them(this could be done for gifts of a certain value). I think the single most important thing you could do is encourage your attendees verbally and often to frequent these places of business. When they do go, tell them to let the proprietor know the reason they are there. Creating traffic for that vendor is the best thank you of all. You may be surprised on the ROI, you receive.

I love the idea of listing a link of websites of the people who give gifts to your nonprofit. So many organizations a looking for donations at this time. If you are offering a little something in return for the donation it may increase your chances of success.
